SERVICES

I provide a service based on a block of 12 weekly sessions which include the following:

Initial phone call

During our introductory phone call we will discuss your reason for seeking music therapy for your child and the goals you would like to meet. The goals can be anything relating to your child’s development, social skills, mental wellbeing or simply a more harmonious family environment. This is an opportunity to ensure that my services align with your needs and to answer any questions you may have.

Assessment

Our first in-person meeting will last around 1 hour within which your child will have the opportunity to meet me. Here we will discuss in detail your child’s and family’s needs and goals.

Therapy sessions

Once the assessment is completed, you will receive a follow-up email outlining the established goals that we will collaboratively work toward during the block of 12 weekly therapy sessions. Each session can last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your child’s individual needs and readiness, allowing for flexibility in how we approach their development.

Outcomes

After the block of 12 sessions concludes, I provide a final report that reviews the established goals. I use a standardized measuring tool The Music Therapy Star, specifically designed to assess and track your child’s progress over time. The report can be used toward your child’s EHCP and shared with other professionals caring for your child.

What if you wish to continue after the block of 12 sessions?

I believe in the effectiveness of short-term interventions, particularly in the initial stages of therapy, as they often lead to significant progress. Research suggests that early engagement in therapy, especially within the first few months, can result in noticeable improvements in specific skills and emotional regulation. The first three months can be a crucial period where foundational resources, tools, and strategies are introduced, providing a strong base for families to continue supporting their child’s growth independently. However, if you wish to receive continuous support for your child, the service can be altered to your child’s individual needs after the block of 12 weekly sessions.
